Open source computer software links

It detects and removes absolutely loads of malware (i.e. adware, spyware and viruses) and can be updated at any time from a program of your choice. It also comes with Teatimer which constantly monitors your computer for any changes but DO NOT use it as Teatimer can become INFECTED. Choose Spybot Search and Destroy. Updates needed for more malware, and you can immunize your computer Recommended
http://www.ccleaner.com/ - It removes all the unneeded stuff on your computer e.g. cookies, history etc. and can work with a variety of internet browsers. It is surprising how much memory is taken by all these things. AND you get rid of minor malware too, that spybot has found in the past. You can also clean your registry and remove programs. Recommended
http://www.winpatrol.com/ - If all you want is a monitoring system, win patrol does the same job as Teatimer, with the help of 'Scotty' the dog who is 'on patrol'. It also behaves like the windows 'task manager'. There is also WinPatrol Plus, which only needs a one time fee. The average winpatrol has been kept free thanks to those who have upgraded to Plus. Recommended. TIP: do not accept things that have no company name, even when first setting up your computer, especially if you are stuck with damn ie (before 7). I had a malware scare on day 1 of my new computer (head explodes).
http://www.clamwin.com/ - A free antivirus software which scans and you have the option to remove, leave or quarantine your problems. It does not monitor your computer in real time. It is best for viruses and spyware and finds stuff that spybot may not. But one advantage is that you can only scan a certain part or file of your computer if you want. There are also updates needed for new malware.

TIP: Install spybot before clamwin. Then you have the option to scan files with either spybot or clamwin. If you do it the other way round then you can only scan with clamwin. Don't ask me why.

TIP 2: If you don't backup anything else onto a disk or separate hard drive, back up the set up for these and the latest version of your favourite (favorite) browser. Install win patrol first, then spybot, then clamwin, then ccleaner. Then your browser. Of course if you use mac then you are a lucky (x a billion) person, because you do not have to deal with ie. I wouldn't, except there is one site that needs ie. I don't know what ie tab in firefox is exactly. Is it the ie script with the safety of firefoz, or is it just ie?
